CANADA
Little can be said about the Shrapnels in Canada today because it is believed that there are none. This is somewhat surprising because Henry Needham Scrope Shrapnel took his attractive wife and many of their sixteen children to Canada in the middle of last century. The principal settlements were in Ontario and British Columbia, inter marriages were with the Webber and Barter families respectively and there were many issue. It is inevitable that there will be descendants from the earlier female lines but researching these from a distance has been tedious. However, with help from an overseas cousin together with internet resources, a clearer picture of the defunct Canadian branch has now emerged. It is, however, a work in progress.
